What’s New in the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC

It’s How Mercedes-Benz Does a Makeover

Spaciousness, versatility, comfort and performance all come standard with the elegant 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. This vehicle shows what happens when Mercedes-Benz makes over the GLC-Class premium compact crossover. More than anything, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC provides an easy and comfortable travel experience by staying true to its roots as a Mercedes-Benz product. The 2020 GLC does not reinvent the sport utility vehicle experience but instead refreshes it on a best-selling model while offering numerous upgrades. The end result speaks for itself, a new spin on the classic Mercedes-Benz experience.

So what’s new with the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC? Start with a sporty and comfortable interior, add a new engine behind the restyled front end with a new grille and LED headlamps with slimmer-lens headlight casings, work around to the revised bumper in the rear with more LED lamps on the tail, include several new wheel design options, and you get a vehicle that manages to be both athletically sleek and tough enough to go almost anywhere.

It’s Also How Mercedes-Benz Does Rugged

Think the term “rugged” can’t apply to a Mercedes-Benz? Think again. The GLC 300’s engine, a next-generation M264 turbocharged 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, says otherwise. The GLC 300’s new engine can make 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, improving over the turbocharged M274 by a whopping 14 horsepower. At the same time, the GLC 300’s engineers designed the vehicle to lower fuel consumption while also allowing drivers to engage the 255-horsepower engine on a variety of driving surfaces, from the smoothest of new asphalt to the roughest of ancient roads. Additionally, a twin-scroll turbo and flow-optimized exhaust manifold help the GLC 300 achieve peak torque at just 1,800 rpm.

Stylistic changes to the GLC 300’s exterior include sculpted surfaces that give the vehicle a smooth look that accentuates a muscular, low-level stance.

Bring On the New Features

Step inside the GLC 300, and behold the wonders of its new and improved steering wheel and infotainment setup. In the driver’s seat, an updated multifunction steering wheel incorporates the latest touch controls, the traditional console-mounted click wheel controller replaced by the touchpad interface. The Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system features a high resolution 10.3-inch control screen which includes blind spot monitoring and handy navigation animations that overlay directional arrows on the camera image of the road. The MBUX system can be operated by the touchscreen, steering wheel or the gesture- and voice-recognition systems. Just say “Hey Mercedes”, and the system will be ready for a command.
Just don’t say “Hey Siri” or “Hey Alexa.” The car might get jealous.

The range of options for the 2020 GLC-Class also include an off-road package, heated front and rear seats, a power liftgate, parking and driver assistance features, 64-color ambient cabin lighting and wireless charging, plus fresh choices for the upholstery, trim, paint, and wheel designs.
